The first quarter of 2026 flew by. Our teams kept jobs on track through winter weather, complex project needs, and busy schedules. We’ve accomplished and experienced everything from opening a new office to wrapping up major work and connection through industry events across the region.
What stands out most looking back is how each milestone, each improvement, and each project moved us forward not just as a company, but as a team. Q1 wasn’t just busy; it helped us grow in ways that make us better for the people who rely on us. More consistency. More shared expertise. More capacity to support the goals our clients and partners are working toward.
Looking back, below are five themes that became the heartbeat of Q1.
1. Expanding Our Footprint
January marked a major milestone for us with the opening of our Tacoma office. After decades of working in Washington, having a consistent local presence will continue to strengthen relationships and position us to better serve our clients. Jordan Peterson and Whitney Peterson are co-leading the charge as we continue showing up for our clients and partners across Puget Sound.
This expansion also reflects Perlo’s broader geographic growth. With projects in multiple states and the near‑complete integration of Reimers & Jolivette, our teams are more connected, more capable, and better positioned to deliver a fully integrated construction experience no matter where our clients need us.

2. Investing in Our People
Growth remained a steady focus throughout Q1. We spent time strengthening skills, supporting career paths, and creating more ways for our teams to learn from one another. And while that work happens inside our walls, the impact reaches far beyond them, because when our people grow, our clients feel the difference in every interaction, every decision, and every project we deliver.
PM Trainings
Our Project Managers kicked off a new training series that covered contracts and owner change management. The sessions used real project examples and open discussion to sharpen day‑to‑day decision making.
Promotions and New Hires
We celebrated several promotions, including Jordan Peterson stepping into the role of Director of Operations for our Puget Sound Division, Whitney Peterson moving into the Senior Training and Development Manager role, and Lisa Wisler becoming our new HR Manager. Along with these promotions, we welcomed Justin Anderson as our newest Project Manager to our Special Projects Group.
Employee Awards
At the Night of Excellence in CRE, our Vice President | Partner, Chris McLaughlin, was honored as Difference Maker of the Year for his decades of mentorship, community involvement, and steady leadership across our teams.
Women in Construction Week
This week-long event gave us the opportunity to bring the ladies of Perlo together in a different way. Our women joined a guided jobsite tour and shared their experiences in the field and in the office. The conversations helped build connections and gave teams a chance to learn from one another.
Culture Events
If you know Perlo, you know that culture is the backbone of who we are and what we do. Our Thursday morning basketball tradition continued to bring us together before the workday even began, with some on the court and others cheering from the sidelines. Our wellness efforts stayed active with sustained activity goals and a private team workout session led by Apex PWR. These simple moments build the connection, trust, and teamwork that you can feel on every jobsite. We also came together for our annual year-end party to celebrate and reflect on the hard work and accomplishments from 2025 over good food, laughs, and well-deserved acknowledgements.

3. Safety: A Daily Commitment
Safety remained front and center this quarter. Our updated Stretch and Flex program became part of the morning routine on several projects, and crews shared positive feedback about how it helps them loosen up, align on the plan, and start the day safely.
This quarter, we also earned several major AGC safety awards:
- The PRIDE Award for the ninth time
- Proudly reestablished the ROSE Award
- AGC CSEA Award for the first time in Perlo history
These awards reflect the awareness and discipline our people bring to every jobsite, truly embracing the heart of our Safety initiative, “My Actions. Our Safety.” That same commitment showed up in the three team members who earned CHST and STSC certifications this quarter, adding even more safety leadership across our projects.

4. Q1 Project Highlights
Across the region, our teams made steady progress on key projects in a variety of markets. We are excited to see our projects continue to take shape across all stages of work and acknowledge the projects that have earned top honors so far this year.

VanRose Technology Center
Hillsboro, OR
All 60 tilt panels went up early in the quarter. Crews moved into sound wall work, truck aprons, and enclosure construction. Height limits near the airport continue to guide the insulated metal panel skin, requiring steady coordination with partners.

Lexus of Vancouver
Vancouver, WA
As the project moved toward closeout, the team focused on the exterior facade, interior gazing, and MEPF work.

Herzog-Meier Volvo
Beaverton, OR
Steel went up for the new service building. Since our construction site shares space with an active service shop, steady communication has kept customer operations running smoothly.

Gordon Truck Centers
Millersburg, OR
Interior buildout continued, storefront prep advanced, and full paving wrapped up. Landscaping and equipment installation were another focus.

Good Shepherd Medical Center
Hermiston, OR
Work advanced across two floors inside the active hospital. Clean work areas, staged deliveries, and close communication with hospital staff kept operations running safely and smoothly.

Project Agate
Gresham, OR
At the highly anticipated Night of Excellence in CRE (NOE in CRE), Project Agate was awarded Industrial Development of the Year. This project pushed our team to think outside the box, work smarter, and stay closely connected with our partners from start to finish.

Lam Building G
Tualatin, OR
Another NOE in CRE award-winning project, Lam Building G, earned Office Development of the Year. From Perlo’s first-ever skybridge to managing campus integration and technical challenges along the way, the team demonstrated true problem-solving and innovation.
5. Industry and Community Engagement
Staying active in our industry and in our communities is a big part of how we operate. The events we attended in Q1 gave our teams a chance to meet new people, stay connected to market conversations, and maintain strong industry relationships. They also allowed us to show up for the people and organizations that support our communities and the work we do every day.
CREW Portland Economic Forecast Breakfast
Our very own Director of Strategic Initiatives and former CREW Portland President, Elissa Looney, opened the event with stories about how our values and “The Perlo Way” show up on and off the job.
Bisnow Pacific Northwest Industrial and Logistics Summit
Jordan Peterson, Director of Operations for our Puget Sound Division, joined a panel discussing tenant needs, cost pressures, and industrial development trends.
OADA Portland Auto Show Sneak Peek
Our team connected with our clients and industry influencers while exploring the latest advancements in vehicle design and engineering.

NAIOP Oregon Executive Board
Todd Duwe was appointed NAIOP Oregon Treasurer.
Sherwood Chamber of Commerce
Chris McLaughlin stepped into the role of President and Chairman for 2026.

Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund
We are proud to be a long-standing sponsor of this scholarship fund that supports students, apprentices, and veterans preparing for careers in construction.

Looking Ahead to Q2
Q1 showed what steady effort across all teams can accomplish. As we move into Q2, several projects are beginning to ramp up, while others are pushing toward the finish line. With more work on the way and solid momentum behind us, we feel ready for the months ahead and the opportunities they will bring. Everything we invested in this quarter, including our people, safety, training, regional presence, and community, strengthens the way we show up day to day. It makes us more reliable, more responsive, and better prepared to deliver the kind of work our clients and partners count on.
